Carol Yuen is an Associate of Remy Choo Chambers LLC who has a strong record of assisting lead counsel in commercial, criminal, and public interest litigation at every level of the Singapore Courts. Prior to joining our firm, Carol commenced her practice training under the tutelage of a highly regarded litigator and was later part of a team of top-ranked litigators co-led by Remy Choo.
Carol has notable experience in resolving high value commercial disputes, investor-state arbitration, shareholder litigation, trust and estate disputes, and white-collar criminal defence work. Carol has also assisted with the defence and appeals of disciplinary proceedings instituted against professionals in the legal, dental and estate agent industries.
Carol has significant experience in disposing of criminal matters where the accused are charged with or being investigated for Penal Code offences including criminal defamation, rioting, drug consumption and possession, commercial sex with a minor, penetrative sexual assault, theft, and traffic offences; and other offences under the Employment Act and Protection from Harassment Act. She regularly acts for indigent persons by actively volunteering with the Law Society’s Criminal Legal Aid Scheme (CLAS) and has been enrolled as Junior Assisting Counsel with the Supreme Court’s Legal Aid Scheme for Capital Offences (LASCO).
Carol is also a passionate advocate of migrant workers and refugee rights who has spent her undergraduate summers with a number of non-governmental organisations including Humanitarian Organization for Migration Economics (“HOME”), United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (“UNHCR”) in Kuala Lumpur, and The Law and Policy of Sustainable Development Research Center in Hanoi. In school, Carol won the subject prize for the Best Directed Research on combatting human trafficking in ASEAN and was the first Runner-Up in the Jean-Pictet Moot on international humanitarian law.
